# Talent pool visibility

> How to ingest and deduplicate candidate data to surface the full talent pool using the Merge ATS API.

#### Authentication and connection

Your users authorize your application to access their ATS platform by going through an authorization flow using Merge Link.
Customers can set up field mappings for custom fields they'll like you to pull in and surface for their Candidates.

#### Data retrieval from ATS platform

Utilize Merge's [**GET** /candidates](https://docs.merge.dev/ats/candidates/#candidates_list) endpoint to programmatically pull all candidates who have been created within your customers' ATS.

This will include both candidates who are actively in an interview pipeline, candidates in the past who have applied, and potentially general prospects who have not been tied to any jobs.
